Google Meet Down: This morning, thousands of users had to face major problems due to the sudden shutdown of Google’s video conferencing service, Google Meet in India. Due to this outage, the work of big corporates, online classes and virtual interviews came to a complete halt. Users were not able to connect even after clicking on the meeting link and messages like “502 Error” were visible on the screen.

What happened?

According to reports, this outage in India started around 11:30 pm. The number of complaints to Google Meet suddenly increased on outage tracking website Downdetector. Where more than 1700 people reported not being able to use Google Meet properly. In India, this outage was not limited to any one region. Most outages have been reported from big metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. The effect of this outage was seen everywhere from corporate to schools.

Anger erupted on social media

As soon as the service went down, #GoogleMeetDown started trending on social media platform X. People started sharing their problems by sharing screenshots. One user wrote, “I had an interview and at that very moment Google Meet stopped working.” At the same time, some people also shared memes on this, in which it was talked about the relief that people working from home got from work.

What did Google say?

Google has acknowledged the problem on its Workspace Status Dashboard. The company said that they are aware of the problems in loading meet.google.com in the Asian region. However, information about the technical reasons for this outage has not been given yet.
