A 22-year-old mobile shop owner from Hasanpur Kala village in Muzaffarnagar district tragically succumbed to his injuries after setting himself on fire, allegedly due to harassment by local police. He passed away on Wednesday evening at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

According to police reports, the individual named Anas reportedly attempted self-immolation on November 19. A video surfaced on social media in which he claimed that the harassment from local law enforcement compelled him to take such a drastic step.

Following the complaint and the viral video, three police officers were suspended five days ago. The suspended officers include Sub-Inspector Ram Avatar, Head Constable Bhupendra, and Constable Vikas. This action was taken under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar after an initial investigation. Further inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
