US President Donald Trump has announced that South Africa will not be invited to next year’s G20 summit in Florida. Trump has accused South Africa of refusing to hand over the G20 presidency. South Africa has described Trump’s post as disappointing and said that due to the absence of the American delegation, the equipment of the Presidency was handed over to the US Embassy. US President Donald Trump said that South Africa will not be invited to participate in the G20 summit to be held in Florida next year.
In fact, last week America had boycotted the Leaders Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. The African country had described this boycott as a punitive step against itself. Let us tell you that despite America’s objection, G-20 leaders on Saturday made an announcement to deal with the climate crisis and other global challenges. After this announcement, America accused South Africa of weaponizing the leadership of the group this year.

US President Donald Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth that after the end of the G20, South Africa refused to give the G20 Presidency to a senior representative of our US Embassy, who attended the closing ceremony. Therefore, as I say, South Africa will not receive an invitation to the 2026 G20, which will be hosted in the Great City of Miami, Florida next year.
South Africa called Trump’s post regrettable
This post of Donald Trump has been termed as regrettable by the office of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Ramaphosa said that since the US delegation was not present at last week’s G20 summit, the instruments of the G20 presidency were handed over to a US embassy official at the headquarters of South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation.
