McDonald's customers have been left fuming by the new size of a popular burger reintroduced as part of its Christmas menu. The burger is available for a limited time but fans are not happy with its size.

A number of people have taken to social media platform X to criticise the new size of the Big Tasty burger. According to McDonald's, it features 100% British and Irish quarter-pounder beef patties, white cheddar cheese and shredded lettuce. A Big Tasty Meal costs £7.99 while a singular burger is £4.39. Customers also have the option of a Double Big Tasty Meal for £9.49, with additional bacon costing 90p.

However, fans of the iconic fast food restaurant have questioned whether the burger should be called "big". One slammed it as false advertising while a second claimed it is smaller than a Big Mac.

@RadioLeggy said: "Wtf have @McDonaldsUK done to the BIG tasty? It's even smaller than a Big Mac. It used to be a genuinely big burger, which periodically features on the menu, ppl know what they are getting when they order it! McDonalds is attempting to gaslight us, this is NOT a Big Tasty!"

@richaskew added: "Forget the budget, have you seen the new size of the Big Tasty? I've been looking forward to that all week and I'm raging @McDonalds."

@BuyWhit put: "False advertising surely? Upped the price and made it smaller. Corporate greed knows no bounds."

@Grizz200388 wrote: "@McDonalds you absolute conman! The big tasty? More like the medium tasty! No bigger than a quarter pounder. If I wanted quarter pounder I'd of ordered one and not one disguised as a Big, sorry, I mean medium tasty! Big tasty's the only burger worth having at your place, not now!"

@phatslates agreed: "The big tasty was always marketed as a 1/3 pounder. It's now been shrunk to a quarter pounder according to their own nutrition website. Shrinkflation hitting @McDonaldsUK. For shame."

McDonald's launched its festive menu this week, including a new Grinch Meal and the Cheesy Chicken Stack Meal. As well as the Big Tasty, the Cheese Melt Dippers have also made a comeback.

A spokesperson from McDonald's said: "McDonald's is spreading festive cheer with a delicious mix of exciting new treats and returning fan favourites! This year's lineup is packed with merry burgers, delightful desserts, tasty sides, and hot or cold drinks to make the season even jollier."

McDonald's has been approached for comment on the Big Tasty.
