Nitish Kumar:Ten lakh women in Bihar received cash aid of Rs 10,000 apiece in their bank accounts on Friday under the Chief Minister’s Women Employment Scheme.

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) was used to disburse the monies, and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took part in the occasion.

Senior officials, representatives from many ministries, and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary attended a special event held at the Chief Minister’s home.

Officials estimate that 50,000 urban women and around 9.5 lakh rural women would benefit.

These recipients have all previously received training and assistance to pursue self-employment and income-generating activities, and they are all affiliated with Jeevika self-help organizations.

According to the government, around 1.5 crore women have benefited financially from the program so far, with each recipient receiving Rs 10,000.

The scheme’s application procedure was divided into two stages: rural women completed offline and online forms at the Panchayat level, while urban women applied online.

Women who were already involved in Jeevika activities were given priority.

Through self-help groups and assistance in starting small companies, the government asserts that the program is significantly contributing to women’s financial independence and self-reliance.

The goal of the Rs 10,000 stipend is to increase women’s involvement in the economy.

Within a month after its August 29 announcement, the plan was put into action.

On September 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly introduced the program and gave 75 lakh women their first installment.

On October 3, Nitish Kumar sent Rs 10,000 to each of the 25 lakh women who were eligible for this plan as part of the second installment.

In an effort to sway votes with financial inducements, the opposition claimed that cash transfers were also conducted within the Model Code of Conduct period for the Bihar Assembly election.

The administration was accused by opposition leaders of breaking the Model Code of Conduct.
