The Monyash Walk, which covers four miles over gates, steps, stiles and squeeze stiles, takes between one and two hours. Although the terrain can be uneven in places as you traverse the dales, there are no steep climbs or descents, allowing you to fully appreciate the unparalleled views.

Another must-visit natural attraction in the area is the historic site of Arbor Low, a Neolithic henge monument, dramatically set within the moorland. Here lies a bank and ditch, with up to 50 whitestone slabs fallen down, encircling a central cove.

This remarkable feature exists only at some of the most celebrated and sacred locations, positioned near Gib Hill, a substantial burial mound. It's thought to originate from approximately 3,000 to 2,500 BC, remaining amongst the Peaks' most intricate and striking prehistoric monuments.

The village centre features a green containing remnants of an ancient market cross, as this settlement previously served as a vital hub for mining and farming activities.
