Raipur. Taking a big step this year in the Chhattisgarh principal promotion process, principals have been promoted on a large scale in T cadre and E cadre after a long time. This is the first time since 2013 (T cadre) and 2016 (E cadre) that such a number of promotions have taken place. The educational quality was being affected due to vacancy of principal posts in government high schools and higher secondary schools, in such a situation this step will provide new strength to the education system.

According to the order issued by the School Education Department on April 30, 2025, eligible teachers who have completed 12 years of service in T cadre and 9 years in E cadre were promoted to the post of Principal. In this process, 1335 lecturers/principal readers of T cadre and 1478 lecturers/head readers of E cadre were promoted. However, the posting of posts was halted for some time due to the stay order of the High Court.

After the petitions were rejected by the Honorable High Court, the process of posting was restarted. According to the government’s letter dated 10 August 2025, the posting was done on counseling basis. Counseling of T cadre took place from 20 to 23 August, under which 1222 principals were posted. At the same time, counseling of E cadre was organized from 21st to 24th November and posting orders of 1284 principals are being issued.

School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav said that the educational system of schools was being affected due to vacant posts for a long time. He clarified that competent leadership is the basic condition of quality education. Chhattisgarh Principal Promotion Campaign will not only streamline the administrative system but will also give new impetus to the teaching-learning process. This is expected to improve the overall quality of education significantly.
