ITV Channel reporter Emma Volney has been flooded with support after announcing her "last day". The journalist has been a staple on the broadcaster's Channel Islands news programmes for the last five years, but she is now heading to the UK to join the team at ITV Anglia. Her move comes as the company faces an uncertain future, asthey are currently in preliminary talks with Sky's owner, Comcast, to buy ITV's broadcasting business. The company has been valued at £1.6 billion.

Taking to X on Wednesday, November 26, she announced: "Today marked my last day at ITV Channel after nearly five years," followed by a heart emoji. Viewers were devastated by her departure and took to X to pay tribute to the presenter. "Come back often, Emma. You'll be so missed. But it will give me a little thrill each time I see you on the national news. You're awesome!" One fan gushed.

"Always looked forward to your reports. Not afraid to ask the difficult questions. Good luck in your next job," another added. A third chimed in: "Best of luck Emma - you'll be hugely missed across the islands!"

"Our local politicians don't know what's gonna hit them! Good luck Emma!" a fourth shared.

A fifth penned: "Sad news, but a great opportunity. You are a rising star and will be missed."

Meanwhile, a sixth wrote: "That's exciting news for you, Emma, really sorry you are leaving though. Our loss means their gain at ITV Anglia, good luck and enjoy working back in the UK."

Emma's move comes as the broadcaster has struggled with losses, announcing cuts across the board earlier this year.

The daytime schedule was already due to undergo a huge shake-up, with both Lorraine and Loose Women losing episodes.

However, if the sale goes through, it could lead to further cuts and put the future of all shows in the air.

In February this year, ITV bosses announced cuts to Emmerdale and Coronation Street, which will see both soaps lose episodes as they run back to back nightly in half-hour episodes for a soap "power hour".
