A fresh walk up a mountain is proving to be attractive among Brits this November, all without having to board a plane to the Alps. One mountain in particular has surged in popularity so much that people are queuing up for summit selfies.

Searches for "Mount Snowdon" are up 180% compared with this time last month, according to new figures from AI SEO agency IMSR. Interest in Wales' tallest peak has surged after TimeOut named it as one of the top 10 hikes on the planet.

Once, it was considered a remote Welsh giant steeped in folklore and legends. Now it's a day trip for trekking fanatics and casual country walkers alike. Queues of up to 45 minutes for a summit selfie have been reported on peak days.

The mountain has a variety of climbs making it suitable for all levels, including novices.

It has six main paths, including Pyg Track, Miner's Track and the more tricky Crib Goch known for its knife-edged ridge recommended for more advanced scramblers and not those with vertigo.

Since 2012, Mount Snowdon has been called by the Welsh name Yr Wyddfa ("the tumulus") by the National Park Authority, but many visitors still know it by its English name.

Its coaches, who go up nearly every weekend with their athletes, recommend Llanberis Path as the best beginner-friendly route.
