The government has accepted the cyber attack on Delhi Airport. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu gave this information in Rajya Sabha. Naidu said that there was a cyber attack on Delhi Airport. The GPS signals of the planes were tampered with. GPS spoofing took place at IGI Airport on 10 November. Cyber attack was attempted on seven airports including Delhi and Kolkata.

In fact, a few days ago, after a sudden malfunction in the traffic system of Delhi Airport, a high level investigation was started. Flight operations were affected for more than 12 hours. More than 700 domestic and international flights were delayed.

At the same time, some flights were cancelled. After about 48 hours, airport operations returned to normal. In the meeting held regarding this, the airport, security agencies and all other stakeholders were called.

What did the Civil Aviation Minister say?

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said that on November 10, 2025, complaints of spoofing were received in some flights at Delhi’s IGI Airport. But even in this incident no aircraft was affected. DGCA issued advisory on 24 November 2023 on GNSS interference and ordered mandatory reporting of GPS jamming/spoofing.

Apart from this, he said that from November 10, 2025, a new SOP was also issued for real-time reporting. He said that DGCA and AAI are continuously monitoring it. GPS spoofing is a cyber attack in which a device is sent a fake signal to show a false location, which can affect the navigation of aircraft.

What is GPS spoofing?

GPS spoofing is a type of cyber attack. In this, attackers send fake satellite signals, due to which the aircraft starts seeing wrong location or wrong data. In such a situation, it can affect the navigation of planes. This increases the possibility of danger. The aircraft may deviate from its original direction or may go to a location which is not the actual one.
