If you like a little taste of luxury, then there is one place you need to visit. Across Europe there are plenty of countries which enjoy the finer life from the fashion capital of Milan to the riches of Luxembourg.

However, according to a new study from PrivateUpgrades, the 'poshest' place of all is none other than Geneva in Switzerland.

In order to discover which city was the poshest, the study looked at more than 100 European cities and compared their concentration of five-star hotels, Michelin guide restaurants and golf courses per capita. Each city was given a score out of 100 and Geneva scored a whopping 98.3 on the posh scale.

It has the highest number of golf courses per capita, with 7.36, and a density of 57 Michelin Guide restaurants and 18 5-star hotels per 100 square kilometres of the city area.

Sometimes called the 'private banking capital of Switzerland', Geneva is on the southern side of the country and shares a border with France. It's the home of the Red Cross, the World Health Organisation and the World Trade Organisation.

There's plenty to do in this posh city - even if you're not flush with cash. Geneva is close to the Swiss Alps as well as plenty of beautiful lakes and rivers to explore.

One of the unmissable things in the city is the Old Town. With winding streets, this walkable slice of history is perfect for a day of exploring.

Although Geneva is a pricey place to visit, one way to save money is through transportation.

The city is small and walkable, so there's no need to spend big on taxis. Even better, many hotels make you eligible for a card which grants you free public transport - just make sure you check when booking if your accommodation is eligible.

If you want to sample one of the many Michelin Guide restaurants, Natürlich is a great one to start with.

This modern bistro has plates designed for sharing with a focus on fresh and interesting produce, such as roast cuttlefish.

The wine list is phenomenal too and it's located right on the River Rhône for a gorgeous view while you dine.
