News Desk. Bihar government has further strengthened the digital system to ensure strict attendance of teachers in government schools. In this sequence, online attendance has been made mandatory through e-Shiksha Kosh app. But despite this, many teachers are not able to come out of their old working style. Recently, similar negligence has come to light in many blocks of Katihar district, after which the department has indicated to take major action.

111 teachers on radar in Sadar block

Online attendance was reviewed in Sadar block on 27 November. During investigation, it came to light that a total of 111 teachers neither marked their attendance till 9:30 am nor marked out till 4 pm. Whereas the department has already clarified that it is mandatory for every teacher to register online attendance at both the times.

Written clarification has been sought by the BEO from all the concerned teachers within 24 hours. A warning has also been given that if the reply is not given within the stipulated time, the report will be sent to higher authorities and further strict action is planned.

142 teachers found absent in Pranpur

Data testing of e-Shiksha Kosh portal was also done in Pranpur block of Katihar district. Inspection found that on November 27, the attendance of a total of 142 teachers was not recorded in the system. This made it clear that either these teachers were not present in the school, or they deliberately did not mark their attendance.

BDO co-in-charge Block Education Officer Manisha Kumari has directed all 142 teachers to give clarification within 24 hours. He said that this is a serious irregularity, and if the reply is not found satisfactory, disciplinary action will be taken.

Increasing strictness of the department

In view of the continuous complaints, the department is now very serious about the online attendance system. The recent action is an indication that the government will not tolerate laxity in the education system. Teachers who have not marked their attendance on time will now either present their stand strongly or face disciplinary action.
