New Delhi: India marched into the quarterfinals of the Menโs Junior Hockey World Cup with another convincing performance, defeating Switzerland 5-0 in Madurai. The result not only extended Indiaโs unbeaten run but also ensured they topped Pool B with nine points from as many games.
The hosts have barely put a foot wrong in the tournament so far. A strong 7โ0 opening win over Chile showcased their intent and a jaw-dropping 17โ0 demolition of Oman underlined their attacking power. Against Switzerland, the pattern continued disciplined at the back, ruthless at the front.
Manmeet Singh gave himself the perfect birthday present with two goals inside the first 11 minutes. He tapped in the opener from a smart assist by Dilraj Singh in the second minute before adding a brilliant deflection later in the quarter.

Soon after, Sharda Nand Tiwari joined the part, slotting home from Indiaโs second penalty corner in the 13th minute. Switzerland had started brightly with back-to-back penalty corners in the first minute but Indiaโs backline and goalkeeper Prince Deep Singh refused to let anything slip through.
Arshdeep Singh struck just before halftime with a crisp reverse hit, putting India firmly in control at 4-0 and leaving Switzerland struggling to keep pace with the home sideโs intensity.
Swiss resistance broken againSwitzerland came out stronger after the break and earned more penalty corners and even a penalty stroke toward the end of the third quarter but Prince Deep was simply too good in goal, pulling off multiple crucial saves.
Meanwhile, India kept pushing for more goals and in the 54th minute, Sharda Nand Tiwari converted another penalty corner to make it 5-0 and seal yet another dominant statement victory.
What next? With three wins in three games and not even a single goal conceded, India have set a strong tone heading into the knockout phase. Men in Blue speed, structure and depth have made them one of the standout teams of the tournament so far.
The defending champions will now gear up for tougher challenges ahead but for the home fans in Madurai, the excitement is only growing and this young Indian side seems ready to ride the momentum all the way.
