KK Muhammad, former regional director of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), advises Muslims to hand over the Gyanvapi Mosque of Mathura and Varanasi to Hindus. He says that both these places are as sacred for Hindus as Mecca and Medina are for Muslims.
But KK Muhammad also advised Hindus that they should not raise such demands in other places in the country. The problem will be further aggravated by the long list of claims.
According to the news of India Today, he said that the Ayodhya dispute was the result of leftist propaganda. Speaking on the Ayodhya dispute, Muhammad told that in 1976 he met Prof. Was associated with the excavation of Babri Masjid under the leadership of Bibi Lal. According to him, this controversy increased due to the influence of a communist historian. That historian assured the Muslim community that no archaeological evidence was found of the existence of a temple beneath the mosque.
'Ayodhya dispute leftist propaganda'
KK Muhammad said that initially most of the Muslim community was ready to allow the temple to be built at the disputed site. He told that the historian was not an archaeologist himself nor had he ever visited the excavation site. Muhammad was criticizing those who spread false stories without information.
He said, that time was very crucial, at that time a communist historian intervened in the matter and explained to the Muslim community that Professor Lal did not find any evidence of the pre-existence of the temple in the excavation. This was completely of his making. After this the Muslim community was left with no option other than to protest.
'The accusers never visited the site'
Since this historian never visited the site before, during or after the excavation. They were spreading such false things without any knowledge of the subject. So someone had to answer this. For the first time Prof. Bibi Lal, who led the team, gave a befitting reply.
'Kashi-Mathura is important but new demand will increase the problem'
Regarding all the claims of temples and mosques going on in the country at present, Muhammad advised that we should be very careful. He says that along with Ram Janmabhoomi, Mathura and Gyanvapi are very important for the Hindu community. He compared them to Mecca-Medina of Muslims. He said, these three places should be handed over to the Muslim community voluntarily.
But on the question of ongoing petitions regarding other religious places, he said, apart from these three, there should be no other demand from the Hindu community. He warned that making new claims will not solve the problem, but will further escalate the conflict.
'The claim on Taj Mahal is also not true'
Some Hindu organizations claim the Taj Mahal of Agra. Muhammad described these claims as completely false. Giving historical facts, he said that the place was originally the palace of Raja Man Singh, then transferred to Jai Singh and later to Shahjahan. Its documents are still present in Bikaner and Jaipur museums. On such claims, he said that this is another attempt by fundamentalist Hindu groups, in which they are claiming everything as their own.
