Patna. Bihar government has now taken a big step towards connecting its government schools with technology. A new system of registering online attendance is being implemented in all the primary to higher secondary schools of the state. This system is not only an important advance towards modern education system, but can also prove to be a milestone in ensuring transparency in schools.

Digitization of attendance through tablets

The Education Department has provided two to three tablets to every government school, depending on the number of students. All the necessary educational apps including e-Shikshakosh are pre-installed in these tablets, in which no tampering will be possible. One tablet will be used for children’s attendance and mid-day meal activities, while the other tablet will be used by teachers to record their attendance.

Teachers are getting special training

To implement the new system in a better way, teachers interested in technology including the headmaster are being trained through Zoom meetings. In this training, they are being given detailed information about uploading photos, recording attendance, preparing various reports and operating the app. After completion of the training, the digital attendance process will be implemented smoothly at the school level.

Proof of presence of each class

The most special initiative of this system is that every class teacher will have to take a group photo of the students of his class every day and upload it on the portal. It will be mandatory to take photographs in such a way that the faces of all the students are clearly visible and an accurate record of their attendance can be made.

Transparency in mid-day meal

According to officials, this system will help in effectively curbing irregularities and frauds in mid-day meals. Now the actual number of children receiving mid-day meal every day will be certified through digital photographs, which will completely stop wrong reporting.
