Varanasi, 3 December. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) team investigating the biggest illegal trade of banned cough syrup in Uttar Pradesh has tightened the noose on the properties and illegal earnings of Varanasi resident Shubham Jaiswal, considered the mastermind of this case. In this sequence, a three-member ED team pasted notices at two locations of Shubham on Wednesday.

Mother and sister found at Shubham’s Sigra residence

The first team reached Shubham’s house at Prahlad Ghat, where since the house was closed, ED completed the action by pasting a notice outside. After this the team reached Durga Niwas residence in Sigra, where Shubham’s mother and sister were found present. While doing the paperwork here, the ED team received a copy of the notice. The ED investigation focuses on the illegal purchase and sale of codeine-containing cough syrup worth more than Rs 2000 crore and properties acquired from it.

Shubham’s mother started crying during interrogation

As soon as the ED team reached Sigra residence, Shubham Jaiswal’s mother started crying. The team calmed him down and made him sit in the verandah of the residence and completed the formal proceedings. As soon as the notice was received, the family distanced itself from the media. Shubham’s mother, sister and three-four other people were present inside the house.

The mother got angry after seeing the media and said – ,My son is innocent.,

The media person was present outside the house even before the arrival of the ED team. As soon as the cameras moved forward, Shubham’s mother became angry and rebuked the media from inside the gate, saying – ‘My son is innocent, he is being implicated.’ Whereas Shubham’s sister was seen continuously trying to silence her mother.

Shubham absconds from Dubai, Father Bhola has been arrested

It is noteworthy that in the cough syrup smuggling case, the kingpin Shubham Jaiswal is absconding in Dubai for a long time. His father Bhola Prasad Jaiswal was recently arrested by Sonbhadra Police from Dumdum Airport in Kolkata. Bhola was also planning to flee abroad, but the police caught him. During interrogation, he told that Shubham is still hiding in Dubai.

Preparation to issue Red Corner Notice by declaring Shubham a fugitive

Meanwhile, Varanasi Commissionerate Police has expedited the process of declaring Shubham a fugitive. According to Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal, an application to declare him a fugitive has been filed in the court. Preparations for issuing Red Corner Notice (RCN) are in the final stages. The extradition process from Dubai will start soon. Five teams of police and SIT are working on his arrest.

Serious cases are registered in many districts

It is noteworthy that Shubham is the mastermind of Shaili Traders and is accused of illegal earnings of more than Rs 100 crore. Cases are registered against Shubham under serious sections in many districts including Sonbhadra, Jaunpur, Varanasi, Ghaziabad and Chandauli. Continuous action is being intensified both at ED and police level.
