Khaleda Zia London Treatment: Preparations to take Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to London for better treatment have once again been stuck.

Due to the delay in his scheduled medical flight reaching Dhaka and the slight deterioration in his health, the journey does not seem possible before Sunday. BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir confirmed this while talking to local media.

Air ambulance could not reach Dhaka

Fakhrul told Bangladeshi media outlet UNB that the Royal Air Ambulance, provided by the Emir of Qatar, could not reach Dhaka on Friday due to technical problems. Now it is expected that if the conditions remain normal then the air ambulance can reach on Saturday. He said that the final permission for the journey will completely depend on the health condition of Khaleda Zia.

slight deterioration in condition

Fakhrul said his condition had deteriorated slightly on Thursday night, following which the medical board has scheduled a detailed checkup. Only after getting the approval from the doctors will it be decided whether he is fit for the journey. If everything goes well, the former Prime Minister can be taken to London on Sunday i.e. 7th December.

Earlier, her personal physician and BNP standing committee member AZM Zahid Hussain had said on Thursday that the medical board had unanimously recommended taking Khaleda Zia abroad. He told that it has been decided to take him to London through Qatar Royal Air Ambulance, where a hospital has also been decided for his treatment.

Khaleda Zia is struggling with these diseases

80-year-old Khaleda Zia has been suffering from heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis and kidney complications for a long time. He has been kept under intensive observation in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. A joint team of local and foreign doctors is continuously monitoring his condition.

According to reports, Khaleda Zia was admitted to the hospital on the advice of the medical board on the night of 23 November after her health deteriorated. His condition was considered critical after infection in his heart and lungs was confirmed. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to CCU on November 27.

At present, the Medical Board is preparing to take a final decision on his travel eligibility. Everyone’s eyes are on whether Khaleda Zia will be sent abroad on Sunday or not.
