The beginning of the third ODI being played at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam was full of thrill. When Indian captain KL Rahul came on the field for the toss, he tossed the coin with the opposite hand. Seeing the coin spinning in the air, the heartbeats of the Indian players, support staff and spectators increased as the team had failed to win the toss in the last 20 matches. Ultimately luck favored us and the coin fell in favor of India.

Rahul chose bowling first

After winning the toss, Rahul decided to bowl first, which was also appreciated by the team. The start of bowling for India was as per expectations. Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh gave India the lead by taking an important wicket in the very first over. He made Ryan Rickelton his first victim, who was caught behind the wicket by captain Rahul.

Rickelton could not even open an account. After this, captain Temba Bavuma came to the crease and tried to handle the innings along with opener Quinton de Kock. Both of them played patiently and made a strong partnership of 113 runs. Bavuma was close to his half-century, but he was caught by Virat Kohli on the ball of Ravindra Jadeja. Bavuma scored 48 runs in 67 balls.

Even after the fall of two wickets, South Africa’s innings continued to progress with the aggressive batting of De Kock. He along with Matthew Britzke maintained the run pace. Meanwhile, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who was proving expensive for India for some time, changed the course of the match. After giving 29 runs in his first three overs, he made a brilliant comeback in the fourth over.

Krishna took 2 wickets in the 29th over

In the 29th over of the innings, Krishna gave only 3 runs and also took two important wickets in the same over. On the second ball, he bowled a good length ball and got Britzke out LBW. Britzke scored 24 runs in 23 balls. On the last ball of the over, he also dismissed in-form Aiden Markram, who could score only one run.

Krishna’s blast did not stop here. In the 33rd over, he further strengthened India’s comeback by bowling South Africa’s most dangerous batsman Quinton de Kock. De Kock played a brilliant century of 106 runs in 89 balls, which included 8 fours and 6 sixes.
