Saturday Kitchen erupted into madness in the final minutes as comedian James Acaster destroyed the set in a moment of fury.

Viewers have been left divided, with some branding the outburst "childish" while others have defended his antics.

This week (Saturday, 6th December), the comedian appeared with his Off Menu co-presenter Ed Gamble ahead of their upcoming live shows at the Royal Albert Hall.

As always, fans had to choose between two dishes the guests would enjoy at the end of the show; Ed's food heaven of a trio of tapas or James's choice of a Panettone-Christmas pudding mash-up.

Unfortunately for James, Ed's heaven edged out his co-host's with 54 percent of the votes, leaving James enraged.

Screaming "Nooo!", the comedian furiously flipped over the Christmas wreath on the guests' table, punched a stuffed polar bear in the face and grappled with a Christmas tree, flinging decorations onto the floor.

Despite presenter Matt Tebbutt and the rest of the guests, which included chefs Andi Oliver, Tasha Marikkar and Ben Lippett and sommelier Helen McGinn, laughing uproariously at his staged meltdown, some viewers watching at home were less than impressed.

One X user demanded: "Matt & the BBC should give an apology on next weeks show, for the disgraceful behaviour on today's show."

Someone else posted: "What utterly disgraceful behaviour on @SaturdayKitchen from James Acaster."

Another X user slammed the comic: "What a car crash of a show. Pretty awful from start & producers should have taken show off air when guest behaved so badly. Hopefully, guest is now on the 'never again' list."

"Call me a Grinch, but I just don't find James Acaster's behaviour funny in the slightest," a third admitted.

Despite the backlash, plenty of fans have come to James's defence, with one writing: "It seems I'm going against popular opinion but I thought that today's guests were very funny and if people can't tell that James was play acting his tantrum then it's a shame."

Another agreed: "James Acaster's reaction to tapas on #SaturdayKitchen is the televisual highlight of 2025.

"Flipped the table and punched a polar bear. It'll be on iPlayer soon enough, and it is a delight to behold."

And a final fan said: "That's the best Saturday Kitchen I've seen. I'm with James Acaster on this one. Tiramisu all day long!"

Was James Acaster's Saturday Kitchen tantrum painful or hilarious?

Saturday Kitchen airs from 10am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
