Jharkhand CM Soren appears before MP-MLA court in ED case

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren appeared before the MP-MLA court on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in connection with a case of alleged non-compliance with summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The CM submitted two bail bonds of ₹7,000 each. The next hearing in this matter is scheduled for December 12.
Soren's counsel, Pradip Chandra, confirmed that he will not have to appear personally for future hearings.

The ED had moved the court alleging that Soren "did not turn up for questioning" in connection with earlier notices issued to him regarding an alleged land scam.
The Jharkhand High Court had granted relief to Soren on Wednesday, exempting him from personal appearance before the MP-MLA court in this case.
However, it recorded his undertaking to appear before the court on December 6.

The High Court has directed the ED to respond to a petition filed by Soren challenging the summons in the land scam case.
The CM's counsel said he will be represented by an advocate during future hearings, starting December 12.
