New Delhi. There were huge disturbances in Indigo flights for the last several days. Thousands of people remained stranded at the airports of many cities, flights kept getting canceled again and again and the problems of passengers increased. But now the airline has claimed that it has finally started flying again. IndiGo says it has done a major system reboot and now more than 95% of its network connectivity has been restored. The airline said that it is preparing to operate more than 1,500 flights by the end of Sunday and initial improvements are also visible. But the big question is, is Indigo really completely back on track, or are there still some problems left?
IndiGo, in its official statement posted on Twitter, said that it deliberately canceled a large number of flights on December 5. This was done because the airline wanted to reset its entire network, systems and staff roster. The airline said that it had to take this big step so that operations can be stable and the flight schedule can be improved in the coming days. For this, Indigo operated more than 700 flights to 113 destinations, all this was part of rebooting the network.
Even on Saturday the situation was not completely normal. More than 100 flights were canceled across the country and thousands of people were stranded for hours at airports in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Guwahati and many other cities. However today (Sunday) IndiGo claimed that cancellations are declining and the number has come down to less than 850. But the question still remains whether everything will be fine in the next 24 hours?
Indigo says that its flights have resumed on 135 destinations, while the total destinations are 138. That is, the entire network has restarted except just 3 places. This is a big relief for IndiGo, but experts believe that "network connectivity is fine" and "operations are completely smooth" are two different things.
The airline said that operations have started on 135 out of 138 destinations. This means that there are still 3 destinations where flights have not become completely normal.
In its statement, the airline has apologized to the customers and said that it is processing the refund expeditiously. According to IndiGo, it is trying to provide real-time updates in collaboration with airport authorities, government agencies and partners. But there is still concern among passengers that if such a big airline can suffer a system failure, then how reliable will the situation be in the future?
Indigo has claimed that by the end of Sunday it will be successful in running 1,500+ flights. This figure shows that the airline is rapidly moving towards normal operation. But will everything become normal in the next 48 hours? Or are these improvements just initial signs, as the airline itself is saying?
IndiGo has advised passengers to keep checking their flight status online and ask for a refund if necessary. The airline has promised to give priority to refunds, but it remains to be seen what the situation is at the ground level.
Indigo said in its statement that it understands the problems of the passengers and is giving priority to refunds. The company also reported that there have been less than 850 cancellations, which is a decline compared to earlier. But passenger confidence will return only if flights operate on time, there are no sudden cancellations and the airline can prevent the next technical glitch. Now all eyes are on how much IndiGo's operations can be stabilized in the coming 48 hours.
