If you're looking for a beautiful beach holiday, there's one spot in Europe you won't want to overlook. In recent years, this country has gained increasing popularity for its scenic coast.
Visitors from all over the world have been drawn to Albania's beaches. Lonely Planet says the Albanian Riviera is the best place to visit in Europe for its empty stretches of stunning coastline.
It says: "The Albanian Riviera was a revelation to the backpackers who discovered the last virgin stretch of the Mediterranean coast in Europe a decade or so ago. Savvy travel pioneers flocked here in droves, setting up ad hoc campsites and exploring scores of little-known beaches.
"Since then, development has truly kicked off in this region, but worry not - while some beaches can be well and truly mobbed in summer, with a little patience you can still find opportunities to kick back and enjoy the empty beaches the region was once so famous for."
The stretch of coastline along the Albania coast from Vlorë (Vlore) and Palasë (Palasa) in the North to Sarandë (Saranda) and Ksamil in the South is known as the Albanian Riviera.
Albania is a place where you'll find picturesque turquoise waters, fascinating historical sites and budget-friendly prices.
If you want to visit when it's less busy, the best time to take a trip is from April to early June or from September to the start of October.
The busiest times are July and August, so it's best to avoid taking a trip then if you're hoping for emptier beaches.
The best way to get around once you're there is by car but it is also accessible by public transport.
On a travel blog called Living with the Wolf, Emma Hurren says you can spend as little as three days in the area or you can spend weeks there, if you have the time.
She says four days would have been the ideal amount of time to enjoy everything the area has.
For an unforgettable holiday with stunning beaches, Albania can't be missed.
