Kanpur: An impersonator was caught on Saturday afternoon while attempting to appear in place of another candidate during the Assistant Teacher and Trained Graduate examination conducted by UP Public Service Commission.


The incident took place in the second shift at Shri Kailashnath Balika Inter College near Sarsaiya Ghat in Kotwali area.


The accused was identified as Amarraj Sonkar, a resident of Danpur village under Paschim Sarira police station in Kaushambi. He was appearing in the exam on behalf of his neighbour Santosh Kumar. During interrogation, Amarraj revealed that he was promised Rs6 lakh for taking the test, of which Rs60,000 had already been paid in advance. tnn
