Delhi News: Amidst the increasing cold in Delhi, Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood inspected night shelters. The government has ensured complete arrangements for beds, blankets, food and security for the homeless people. In view of the increasing cold in Delhi, the Urban Development Minister took an update from the officials on the status of night shelters built in Delhi. During this, he talked to the officials of DUSIB (Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board) and took stock of the facilities being made for the homeless and needy people. The minister said that the government is trying to ensure that no poor or homeless person in Delhi spends the night under the open sky on the streets during winter. He said that considering the need, more than 200 temporary night shelters have been built in Delhi. Where people are being provided facilities like bed, warm blanket, clean water, food, cleanliness, heater and security.

Ashish Sood said that Delhi government ministers are continuously inspecting night shelters in their respective areas. So that every person can get food, blanket and safe place on time. He gave clear instructions to the officials to provide adequate blankets and clean, comfortable beds to protect from cold. Cleaning, lighting, security and fire protection equipment in night shelters should be as per the prescribed standards.

Here, social activist Bhavesh Piplia had raised questions on the government system. He had alleged that from 10 pm last Friday night to 3:30 am Saturday morning, he visited around 21 places, where 50 people were found sleeping in the cold under the open sky.

He also claimed that more than 10 homeless people have died in the last few days, and no injuries were found on their bodies. In such a situation, it is suspected that he might have died due to cold. On these allegations, Minister Ashish Sood instructed the officials that these allegations should be investigated and if any responsible officer is found negligent then strict action should be taken against him.
