New Delhi. Indian Railways has made many new changes keeping in mind the convenience and comfort of the passengers. Now especially senior citizens, women above 45 years of age, pregnant women, visually impaired passengers and disabled people will be able to enjoy more comfort and convenience in train travel. 1. Easy allotment of lower berth

Now senior citizens, women above 45 years of age and pregnant women will not have to choose lower berth while booking tickets. They will automatically get lower berth as per availability. 6-7 lower berths in sleeper class, 4-5 in 3AC and 3-4 lower berths in 2AC will be reserved for these passengers in every coach. This will provide great relief to passengers having difficulty climbing stairs.

2. Special quota for disabled passengers

Now a separate quota of seats has been kept for disabled passengers and their attendants in all mail and express trains. Four berths each in Sleeper and 3AC/3E, while four seats in 2S and Air Condition Chair Car have been ensured for disabled passengers.

3. Special coach for disabled passengers

Now most trains will have separate coaches for disabled passengers. These coaches have been designed with special features like wheelchair accessibility, large berths, comfortable toilets, grab rails and wash basins. In this way, the travel of disabled passengers will be more safe and convenient.

4. Braille Signboard for Visually Impaired Passengers

For the convenience of visually impaired passengers, Railways has decided to install signboards in Braille script. With the Braille script written on these signboards, passengers will be able to easily get information about trains and stations.

5. Convenience in new trains with accessibility features

The new Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains have special accessibility features. The first and last coaches are provided with wheelchair space, special ramps and designed toilets. Markings and easy entry-exit options are also available on the doors of reserved coaches, so that all passengers can board and deboard easily.
