Nagarjuna honors Mohanlal; JioHotstar announces ₹4,000cr investment in South

Telugu superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna recently congratulated Malayalam cinema legend Mohanlal for receiving the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

The moment occurred at an event organized by JioHotstar called South Unbound in Chennai.

When Mohanlal, Nagarjuna, and Vijay Sethupathi appeared together on stage as the hosts of Bigg Boss Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil, Nagarjuna took a moment to congratulate his counterpart.

"I didn't get a chance to personally congratulate him, so I take this opportunity, especially when everybody is here."

Nagarjuna further said, "I remember my father (Akkineni Nageswara Rao) had received this award a while ago, and he was on the Dadasaheb Phalke Committee."

"This award is so pure and prestigious."

"And it has come to the most deserving actor; an actor who holds his own in Indian cinema."

Mohanlal was honored with it at the National Film Awards 2025 for his "iconic contribution to Indian cinema."

Meanwhile, JioHotstar shared a slate of 25 upcoming titles.

The event also featured the streamer outlining its plan to invest ₹4,000 crore in South Indian content.

The platform further revealed that they have signed a Letter of Intent with the Tamil Nadu government, which aims to strengthen and accelerate the state's creative and production ecosystem.
