Fans of Nicolas Cage will be thrilled to learn this action comedy is appearing on TV tonight for the perfect movie night in, filled with laughter.

He's starred in huge blockbuster films like National Treasure, Ghost Rider, and Gone in 60 Seconds, but this is the only film where viewers can see the American actor playing himself. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is a 2022 film jam-packed with action, where Cage plays a fictionalised version of himself.

With a major supporting cast made up of Pedro Pascal, Sharon Horgan, Neil Patrick Harris and Tiffany Haddish, the Hollywood star's exaggerated personality is at the heart of the film. The story follows Cage as he's drowning in debt and accepts a huge million-pound job to attend the birthday of a billionaire, who happens to be his biggest superfan.

Javi Gutierrez hosts the party in Mallorca, but before the big event, Cage is recruited by the CIA to be their personal spy on him, as they suspect he is a cunning drug lord. In order to carry out the job, he needs to channel his iconic characters from movies past to save his own life and that of Javi's kidnapped daughter.

It takes on a wild adventure as they dodge danger, and he forms a beautiful bromance with Javi, played by Pascal. Although along the way, as he gets to know the billionaire, he realises he may not be a villain after all.

Fans simply can't get enough of this unlikely duo on screen, as one writes: "Nicolas Cage is not only the sounding personality of this film, but he is also amazing in it! He and Pedro Pascal are so amazingly funny and engaging together that they sweep you along for this insane ride!"

Another viewer, shared: "Draped in exaggerated fun, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent starts out as a light spy thriller but quickly morphs into a buddy comedy turned pop culture popcorn picture."

Others love the jokes that fill every scene in the film, as one viewer claims it's "a great blend of humour and action". They added that the story demonstrates the range of Cage's acting, as they see him in a role like never before.

Above all, the film sets out to "celebrate Cage's iconic career", taking you on a wild ride through all of these differing versions of himself. And it's thought that it can still be enjoyed by those who aren't as familiar with his work in film; in fact, they declare it as a "must-see".

Making note of this, a fan wrote: "If you haven't seen most of Nicolas Cage's output during the last ten years, still feel free to give this film a shot. Anything you don't know about the first time will be much funnier the second time you watch (and yes, you will want to see this again)."

Upon the film's 2022 release, it received plenty of critical acclaim and boasted a worldwide total of $29.1 million at the box office. More importantly, film fans rank it highly, with an overall rating on the review site Rotten Tomatoes of 87%.

If you're curious to see this dynamic duo in action, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is set to appear on Film4 tonight at 9pm.
