Fernando Alonso is reportedly set to become a dad for the first time. The Spanish racing legend, who's in a relationship with journalist Melissa Jimenez, is said to be expecting a baby.

The 44-year-old recently wrapped up his third season with Aston Martin in the Formula 1 paddock. Despite not making it to the podium this year, he did finish a respectable sixth at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, rounding off the year 10th in the overall drivers' standings.

Having made his F1debut back in 2001, Alonso has shown remarkable consistency across multiple decades as his racing career nears its conclusion. But it seems there's a significant life change on the horizon away from the track, with Spanish media reporting that his partner is pregnant.

According to Hola, Alonso and F1 reporter Jiménez are set to welcome a new addition to their family. Speculation had been rife in Spain after Jiménez made fewer public appearances, including missing the recent Abu Dhabi GP.

The Spanish outlet has since confirmed that the DAZN reporter is due to give birth in March 2026. This will be the first child for Alonso and the fourth for Jimenez, who has three children from her previous marriage to ex-Barcelonafootballer Marc Bartra.

The couple, who reportedly started dating in 2023, have kept their relationship out of the limelight. Hola also reports that Jimenez is currently living with Alonso in Monaco, with her children also settling into life in the principality.

Meanwhile, Alonso has dropped hints that his Formula 1 career might be reaching its conclusion. The double world champion, whose deal runs until 2026, could decide to call time on his racing days if Aston Martin delivers a successful campaign.

Speaking to AS in September about his future plans, Alonso said: "It depends on how I feel next year, how I feel physically and mentally. But I don't know. I don't have a clear idea right now. If the car goes well, there's a good chance it will be my last year."

When questioned about whether he'd prefer to bow out following a triumphant season, he added: "Yes. I know I have a better chance of doing well in 2027 or 2028, when there's stability in the team we have now with Adrian Newey and the others.

"They might do well in the first year, but by the second or third, they're guaranteed to do well. But I have to consider it myself. If the car goes badly, there's a good chance I'll stay for another year to finish on a positive note. If the car goes well, 2026 will probably be my last year."
