Gonda. Chief Engineer of Sarju Canal National Project, Sanjay Tripathi on Monday conducted on-site inspection of major canals operated from Sarju Canal Section-2 – Raniapur, Gandhariya, Dapoli, Semrona, Kakra, Mohammadpur and Rohini Bhari Canal. The special thing was that he did this inspection himself while driving a motorcycle, so that he could understand the ground situation properly without any formality. Chief Engineer Shri Tripathi established direct communication with the farmers present on the banks of the canal. Took detailed information on the problems of farmers, status of irrigation system and availability of water. He assured that both the government and the department are fully committed to providing canal water to every field of the farmers.
He assured the farmers and said – “No farmer’s irrigation problem will be left without solution. If there is any obstruction in the water supply in any canal or any technical problem arises, the farmers should immediately contact the local authorities.” The Chief Engineer further said that if the problem cannot be solved at the local level, then the farmers can get the solution by directly giving them information in written or verbal form.
During the inspection, the entire team including Executive Engineer Deepak Kumar, Assistant Engineer Saddam Hussain, Junior Engineer Mahendra Kumar of Sarju Canal Section-2 were present and took stock of the condition of the canal and water supply at various places. Farmers also welcomed this inspection and said that the Chief Engineer reaching out directly to the ground level is a confidence-building step for them. Smooth operation of canals will provide considerable relief in irrigation of Rabi crops. This inspection reflects the intention of the government under which providing adequate irrigation water to every farmer is the top priority.
