YouTube TV to offer genre-based subscription plans
11 Dec 2025

YouTube TV, the popular streaming service owned by Google, has announced a major update for 2026.

The company will introduce "YouTube TV Plans," offering over 10 genre-specific packages.

This move is aimed at providing more choice and flexibility to subscribers.

The first of these packages will be the "YouTube TV Sports Plan," which will include all major broadcasters as well as FS1, NBC Sports Network, and all ESPN networks.

Package details

The upcoming "YouTube TV Sports Plan" will also offer access to other sports networks and ESPN Unlimited. Subscribers will be able to add NFL Sunday Ticket and RedZone as extras.

The plan also comes with unlimited DVR, multiview, key plays, and fantasy view features.

The main YouTube TV plan with over 100 channels will still be available even after the launch of these new packages.

Move aims to attract cost-conscious viewers
Strategic shift

The introduction of genre-specific plans is a strategic move by YouTube TV to attract cost-conscious viewers.

Many users may not want to pay the full $82.99 monthly fee for content they don't watch.

The new packages will allow them to pick and choose specific programming, possibly keeping them subscribed even amid rising costs.

New packages to include family and entertainment content
Additional offerings

Along with the "Sports Plan," Google also teased other packages that combine sports and news or focus on family and entertainment content.

These new offerings will give subscribers more options to customize their YouTube TV experience according to their viewing preferences.

The company hasn't revealed the pricing for these smaller bundles, but they are expected to be cheaper than the current base plan priced at $82.99 per month.
