What is Silent Stress in Children: Silent stress is the tension that a child feels but lacks words to express it. In simple language, he does not yet know how to express his fear or displeasure to his parents. This fear causes his stress.



Why can’t children tell about their fears: The vocabulary of children between 6 to 12 years is not developed enough to express all their feelings in words. For example, they can explain the fear of being scolded or beaten. But due to that fear, the habit of remaining silent or not expressing one’s feelings has developed, they are not able to express it in words.

If there is a sudden change in the child’s behavior. Like earlier the child used to talk a lot, now he remains silent or has become more scared than before. Earlier he was sociable but now he remains aloof. Problems in the child’s sleep have started increasing, such as fear while sleeping at night or frequent interruptions in sleep. Children complain of frequent stomach ache and headache. Do not concentrate on studies. Refusing to go to school. Getting irritated or angry over small things. Eating too much or too little than before. Refusing to play with friends. If four or five of these signs are visible in your child, then parents need to pay attention to it.




  1. Putting more pressure on children for studies and results than necessary.

  2. Constantly comparing children with other children at home, family, friends, neighborhood.

  3. Constant stressful atmosphere at home, such as parents arguing or quarreling in front of their children or unpleasant incidents occurring in the family.

  4. Putting pressure on children to be better than others.

  5. Excessive screen time of children due to which sleep and brain of children are affected.


All these reasons can increase the stress of children.




  1. Create a safe home environment: Parents should make the home environment stress-free for the upbringing of children.

  2. Parents should not ignore what their children say. Listen to what the child says and also respond. Do not compare the child with other children. Doing this builds their self-confidence.

  3. Keep talk time with children for 15 minutes every day. During this time, try to connect with the emotions of the children.

  4. Instead of immediately scolding or shouting at the child’s mistake, explain it calmly.

  5. Make them aware of emotional words and feelings. So that he can tell her if needed.
