Kritika Kamr:  who has lived in Delhi for a large portion of her life, attributes her ability to fully inhabit her role in the forthcoming movie “The Great Shamsuddin Family” to her strong bond with the city.

The Anusha Rizvi-directed slice-of-life film, which was shot completely in Delhi, honors the city’s commonplace friendliness, comedy, and turmoil, which Kritika claims came easily to her because of her heritage.

Kritika told IANS, reflecting on her experience: “In many ways, this movie felt like coming home.” I was raised in Delhi, and I have a deep feeling of familiarity with the language, tone, comedy, and even interpersonal interactions.

It seemed natural to play a member of a regular middle-class Delhi household. Every street reflected something from my own life, and every corner we filmed in had a memory. That, in my opinion, is what made the process so genuine and pleasurable.

“Shooting in Delhi was really special for me,” she said.

“Everything enhanced the experience, including the food, people, and city energy.” The atmosphere on set was so natural and real that I felt completely at ease.

Kritika went on: “Working with such a remarkable group of women made the process even more memorable, and Anusha Rizvi has created a world that feels so warm and real.” I immediately felt a connection to the narrative and the place where I grew up.

The ethos of a middle-class Delhi home is captured in the movie. Juhi Babbar, seasoned actress Farida Jalal, and Shreya Dhanwanthary play important parts in it as well.

The story, which takes place in Delhi over the course of a single day, follows Bani as moms, aunts, cousins, and past love interests show up at her flat, each carrying their own crises.

The heroine must decide whether to pursue professional prospects abroad or stay with her family while navigating interfaith complications, generational disputes, and familial expectations.
