A shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district has left the region stunned. Enraged after a quarrel with his sister-in-law, a man brutally killed his three-year-old niece and hurled his five-year-old nephew from the second floor of their home. While the little girl died on the spot, the boy is battling for his life in the hospital. The accused fled immediately after the crime but has now been arrested.

The incident occurred in Rajpur Nawada village, under the Mandawali police station. Jaipal Singh, a government employee with the Public Works Department, lives with his two sons, Arun and Himanshu. According to the family, Himanshu is addicted to alcohol and frequently creates disturbances at home.

On Thursday, he returned home drunk and started abusing his elder brother, Arun, and sister-in-law, Manju. When Manju objected to his behavior, Himanshu’s anger spiraled out of control.

In a fit of rage, Himanshu climbed to the second floor of the house where his niece Manvi (3) and nephew Mayank (5) were playing. There, he attacked Manvi with a sharp weapon and slit her throat. Not stopping even after killing the toddler, he grabbed Mayank and threw him off the two-storey building.

Manvi died instantly, while Mayank suffered severe injuries.

Hearing Mayank’s screams, his parents rushed to the spot and immediately took him to a nearby hospital. Given his critical condition, doctors referred him to a higher medical facility for advanced treatment.

Meanwhile, Himanshu fled the scene. The family approached Mandawali police and lodged an FIR for murder and attempted murder.

Villagers told police that Himanshu believed his father intended to transfer his land to Arun due to Himanshu’s alcohol dependency. This had triggered repeated arguments at home, and he had been demanding that the property be transferred to him instead.

Police say this suspicion and frustration contributed to the violent attack.

Bijnor SP (City) Dr. Krishna Gopal Singh confirmed that the police arrested Himanshu after a search operation. He said:

“Investigations reveal that Himanshu attacked his niece and nephew over a family land dispute. The girl died, and the boy is undergoing treatment. Further investigation is in progress.”
