
Rajkot, 13 December. 80 cows have died due to suspected food poisoning in a cow shed in Kotdasangani taluka of Rajkot district. This cowshed of Shri Ramgar Bapu Goseva Trust, which has been associated with cow service for years, is in Sandhwaya village. It has been learned that these cows have died during the last 24 hours. At present the concerned authorities have started investigating the matter.
Fear of death of cows due to eating peanut peels
According to the information received, more than 400 cows are served in this cowshed, but on Friday, there is an atmosphere of sadness in the entire area due to the death of more than 80 cows due to suspected food poisoning. According to initial investigation, it is believed that the cows died due to eating peanut shells given to them.
Veterinary team reached cowshed
It is being told that the number of deaths of cows may also increase. Treatment of more than 20 affected cows has been started. Veterinary teams from areas like Rajkot, Gondal and Kotdasangani have reached Sandhavaya, which are treating the affected cows. Legal action including postmortem has been initiated to find out the exact cause of death of the cows.
Taking the incident seriously, the district administration has also come into action. District Collector Dr. Om Prakash, District Development Officer Anandu Suresh Govind and other senior officials visited the cowshed on Saturday. The officials assured that the affected cows would be given proper treatment.
Animal Husbandry Department team sent to the spot
Gujarat Animal Husbandry Minister Jitubhai Vaghani has taken the entire matter seriously. On the instructions of the Minister, a high-level team of the Animal Husbandry Department was immediately sent to the spot. The minister has ordered the team to keep an eye on the entire situation and take immediate rescue and treatment measures for the cows.
to investigate FSL samples sent
According to officials, the administration has taken immediate action to find out the exact cause of death. Samples of fodder, water and other food given to the cows have been collected immediately. These samples have been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Rajkot to find out the exact cause of death.
Officials said that currently teams of 16 veterinarians are providing intensive treatment to the affected cows so that they can be saved. After the District Collector and other senior officials visited the cow shed, now monitoring has been started at the state level also.
