DA Hike News: Central government employees are currently troubled by a message going viral on social media, which claims that the government has ended certain post-retirement benefits for government employees.

DA Hike News: A message is currently going viral on the social media app WhatsApp, claiming that the central government has decided to end certain post-retirement benefits for retired government employees. The WhatsApp message states that this change is part of the Finance Act 2025.

The message claims that under the new rules, pensioners will no longer receive any benefits from increases in Dearness Allowance (DA) or future pay commissions. This includes the upcoming 8th Pay Commission. Naturally, central government employees are worried after this message went viral. Now the government has clarified the matter. Let's find out what the truth is.

Government clarifies the truth

PIB Fact Check, on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, has declared this viral message as fake and refuted the claims made in it.

PIB wrote on X, "Will retired government employees stop receiving DA hikes and pay commission benefits under the Finance Act 2025? A message circulating on WhatsApp claims that the central government has withdrawn post-retirement benefits such as DA increases and pay commission revisions for retired employees under the Finance Act 2025."

PIB Fact Check has clearly stated that this is a false claim. The government has explicitly stated that DA hikes or pay commission-related benefits for retired employees have not been discontinued.

Do not trust this message

PIB also wrote on X, "Rule 37 of the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021 has been amended, which states that if a PSU employee is dismissed from service for misconduct, their retirement benefits will be forfeited." This government decision is being misrepresented. The government has appealed to citizens to be wary of such investment scams and advised people not to believe such news and to verify the information before trusting or sharing it.
