Moradabad. The issue of establishment of High Court bench in Western Uttar Pradesh is now gaining more momentum. In this series, an important meeting was held on Saturday in the auditorium of The Bar Association and Library, Moradabad. The lawyers had a serious discussion regarding this long standing demand and took a major decision.
The meeting was presided over by Bar Association President Anand Mohan Gupta Advocate. A large number of lawyers were gathered in the auditorium. Everyone together talked in detail about the need for a High Court bench in Western Uttar Pradesh. This demand has been going on for years and now the lawyers have decided to raise it more strongly.
It was decided with everyone’s consent in the meeting that on December 17, the advocates would boycott work for the whole day to demand a High Court bench. No judicial work will be done in the court on this day. With this, our demand will be conveyed strongly to the government and concerned authorities. Lawyers say that this step will give new strength to the movement.
President of State Employees Joint Council, Uttar Pradesh, Sandeep Badola was present as the chief guest in the program. He shared his views on the need for a High Court bench in Western UP. Sandeep Badola said that this demand is justified and it should be fulfilled. He promised to give full support to the movement. His presence added more enthusiasm to the meeting.
Bar President Anand Mohan Gupta Advocate expressed concern in the meeting that due to absence of High Court bench in Western Uttar Pradesh, the general public is facing huge loss. To get cheap and easy justice, people have to go to Allahabad High Court, which is quite far away. Due to long distances, time, money and effort are wasted. This makes the process of justice more difficult for the common man. Gupta said that the formation of the bench will provide relief to lakhs of people.
All the advocates present in the meeting together raised their voice that the movement will continue until a High Court bench is formed in Western Uttar Pradesh. It will be made bigger and more comprehensive. The intention of the lawyers is clear – they will not back down now. More major steps can be taken in the coming days, such as strengthening demand through demonstrations or in other ways.
This meeting can prove to be a new turning point in the fight for justice for the people of Western UP. This demand, which has been going on for years, is now becoming more intense. It remains to be seen when the government pays attention to this and the common people get easy justice. At present the lawyers are completely united and the work boycott of 17th December will be the first major glimpse of this.
