According to the people present at the spot, this bloody incident was carried out by two gunmen. It is being told that about 50 rounds of bullets were fired during the attack. This firing incident happened about two hours ago, after which heavy police force has been deployed in Bondi Beach and its surrounding areas.
Eyewitnesses of the incident said that suddenly due to the sound of gunshots, the people present on the beach started running here and there. Within a few minutes the entire area turned into screaming and panic. Local people say that they have never seen such a big and horrific incident before.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has expressed deep sorrow and concern over this attack. “The scenes being seen in Bondi are ‘shocking and heartbreaking’,” he said. The Prime Minister further said, “Police and emergency personnel are present at the scene and are working to save lives. My thoughts are with everyone affected.”
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Albanese said, “I have just spoken to the AFP Commissioner and the Premier of New South Wales. We are working closely with New South Wales Police and will provide further information as soon as more information is confirmed.” Appealing to local citizens, he said, “I urge the people in the surrounding areas to follow the information received from the New South Wales Police.”
After the incident, Bondi Beach has been completely evacuated and strict security arrangements have been implemented in the surrounding areas. Police have started investigation and efforts are being made to find out the identity and intentions of the attackers. This attack is being considered a major security blow for Australia, which has once again raised serious questions on the security of public places.
