As many as 110 overseas names have been shortlisted, of which 96 are capped and 14 are uncapped cricketers, a number of big names are expected to hog the headlines, and some might even breach the Rs 10 crore barrier. Here's a closer look into 10 such foreign stars who could be in demand.
David Miller
Known for his reliability under pressure, David Miller is one of the most experienced middle-order batters in T20 cricket. Having scored 3,077 runs at a strike rate of 138.60 in 141 IPL matches, Miller has proved that he can be finishing games. His base price is Rs 2 crore, and a franchise looking to invest in an experienced finisher may push his value close to Rs 10 crore.
Liam Livingstone
There will be big bids for Liam Livingstone, England's powerhouse. The 32-year-old has scored 1,051 runs in 49 IPL matches at a strike rate of 158.76 and picked up 13 wickets. Livingstone wasn't retained by his previous franchise. He could be the subject of intense battle among several teams who would want his all-round skills.
Jamie Smith
The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, Jamie Smith, will go into his maiden IPL Auction. While he hasn't played in the IPL, his international T20 credentials are pretty impressive: 1687 runs in 97 matches. Teams looking for a young, long-term wicketkeeping option, such as KKR, will be monitoring his price closely.
Steve Smith
Steve Smith returns to the auction, having last played in 2021. A veteran of 103 IPL matches, his 2,485 runs notwithstanding, Smith is perhaps not a T20-first choice anymore, but experience could see him being picked by teams that would be willing to take a calculated gamble on his abilities.
Jason Holder
Also in the fray could be West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, with a base price of Rs 2 crore. He has picked 53 wickets and scored 259 runs in 46 IPL matches. Holder has been that kind of a bowler who bowls at crucial junctures, apart from being handy with the bat, thus he could be a strategic purchase for balance by franchises.
Lungi Ngidi
Lungi Ngidi could be a surprise contender for big-money bids. The tall and fast South African fast bowler, who impressed in the recent matches against India, has 29 wickets in 16 IPL games. With pace bowlers always in demand, Ngidi's price could shoot up.
Tim Seifert
Tim Seifert is a 30-year-old wicketkeeper-batter who has limited IPL exposure. He last played in the IPL back in 2022 for Delhi Capitals. It remains to be seen how big an investment franchises make in him after setting his base price at Rs 1.5 crore.
Jonny Bairstow
Jonny Bairstow did well in his short stint as a replacement player last season. He has scored 1,674 runs in 52 IPL matches and could thus find franchises like KKR bidding for him in case the team looks for a reliable wicketkeeper-batsman.
Quinton de Kock
Finally, the experienced Quinton de Kock, who was released by KKR, goes into the auction. The left-handed batsman has accumulated 3,309 runs in 115 IPL matches, with two hundreds and 24 half-centuries. He might be a bit inconsistent but may be a bargain buy for a franchise.
With these overseas players in the spotlight, the IPL 2026 auction is going to be quite a thrilling affair: expect some fierce bidding wars, shocking buys, and a whole lot of excitement as franchises seek to get holds on game-changing talents.
