Arshdeep Singh broke Lasith Malinga Record: Indian team’s fast bowler Arshdeep Singh performed brilliantly in the third T20 match being played against South Africa on Sunday. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bowl first. Arshdeep gave a good start to India by sending Reeza Hendricks to the pavilion in the very first over. With this wicket, Arshdeep Singh made an important record in his name.


Bhuvneshwar Kumar left behind


Arshdeep Singh broke the record of taking most wickets in powerplay (1-6 overs) in T20 International. He has now taken 48 wickets in his name, leaving behind Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s record. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 47 wickets for India in this category. This performance of Arshdeep gave strength to Team India in the beginning of the match itself.


Lasith Malinga’s record broken


In this match against South Africa, Arshdeep Singh not only broke the powerplay record but also earned name at the world level. He broke Sri Lankan veteran bowler Lasith Malinga’s record of taking most wickets in T20 International. Malinga took 107 wickets in 84 matches, while Arshdeep took 108 wickets in just 71 matches.


India’s top wicket taker bowlers


Arshdeep Singh has now become the highest wicket taker for India in T20 International. Apart from him, only Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya have been able to reach this level. Arshdeep has taken 108 wickets in his name, while Bumrah has 33 wickets in his name. This record of his sets a new record in Indian cricket.


In the five-match series, Arshdeep has taken three wickets in three matches so far. His performance in the first match gave India a strong start.
