Cricket South Africa has started preparations for the ICC ODI World Cup 2027. The next edition of the ODI World Cup will be played in 2027, jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Keeping in mind the preparations for the mega event, Cricket South Africa has also selected the stadiums where the matches will be played in their country. A total of 54 matches including the final will be played in the ODI World Cup 2027.
According to the information given by Cricket South Africa, it will organize a total of 44 matches, apart from this the remaining 10 matches will be played in Zimbabwe and Namibia. South Africa has selected 8 stadiums in its country to host 44 matches, which include Wanderers Stadium, Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town, Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban, Centurion Park in Pretoria, Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, St George’s Park in Gkeberhama, Buffalo Park in East London and Boland Park in Parliament. All these stadiums have been informed to start preparations from now. South Africa has appointed its former Finance Minister Trevor Manuel as the head of the local planning committee for this mega event.
South Africa last hosted ODI World Cup matches in 2003. Now he has got a chance to become the host in 2027. In this mega event, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia have already secured their places as host countries, while a total of 14 teams will participate in the tournament. All these teams will be divided into different groups of 7 each. In which the top 3 teams of each group will get entry into the Super Six. After this there will be semi-final and final matches. ODI World Cup has been played twice in this format so far, which was in 1999 and 2003.
