A horrific accident occurred in dense fog near Mathura on Yamuna Expressway. A fire broke out after 7 buses and 3 cars collided, killing 13 people and injuring 79 passengers. CM Yogi has announced compensation for the dead and injured.

The morning started with a painful scene as dense fog hampered the speed on Yamuna Expressway. Vehicles collided one after another on the expressway near Mathura and within no time there was an atmosphere of fire and screaming on the road. 13 people died in this horrific road accident, while 79 passengers are said to be injured.

Tragic accident happened at Milestone 127

According to Mathura District Magistrate Chandraprakash Singh, the accident occurred at around 6 am near Milestone-127 of Yamuna Expressway. Visibility was extremely low due to dense fog among vehicles going from Agra to Noida. Meanwhile, first three cars collided with each other and after that seven buses coming from behind collided one after the other. The collision was so severe that many buses and cars caught fire.

Saved his life by jumping from burning buses

There was chaos on the expressway after the accident. Screaming started among the passengers and many people saved their lives by jumping from the burning buses. According to eyewitnesses, after the collision, a bang-like sound was heard, which seemed as if a big explosion had taken place.

Traffic completely stopped, treatment of injured continues

Due to the accident, the Yamuna Expressway from Agra to Noida was completely blocked. Teams of police, Yamuna Expressway Authority and fire brigade reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations. The injured were admitted to nearby hospitals through ambulances. Of the 79 injured, 36 have been admitted to Mathura District Hospital and 43 to Vrindavan District Joint Hospital.

Fire brought under control, route diverted

The fire was brought under control after hard work of the fire brigade. In view of security, the expressway was closed for some time and vehicles were diverted through alternative routes. Traffic remained affected for a long time after the accident.

7 buses and 3 cars were hit

Mathura Rural SP Suresh Chandra Rawat said that the accident happened near Milestone 127 on Agra-Noida Lane. A total of 7 buses and 3 cars collided in the accident. These include one roadways bus and six private sleeper buses. So far 13 people have been confirmed dead in the accident.

CM Yogi announced compensation

Taking cognizance of this horrific accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. The administration has appealed to the people to take special care while traveling during cold and foggy weather, as there is a continuous increase in road accidents at this time.
