We’ve all heard the phrase, “true love is unconditional”, but where do we draw the line? Imagine loving and trusting someone with all your heart and soul, only to be left alone on the streets with no answers or no support and a child to look after.

Sounds terrifying, right? This is the story of Deepa in Star Plus’ new show Shehzadi Hai Tu Dil Ki. Betrayed by her husband, who secretly marries again without her knowledge, Deepa is left behind to pickup the pieces and take care of her child.

With her trust broken and heart bruised, Deepa tries to move forward until destiny brings Kartik to her life. A genuinely kind and supportive man who truly wants to help Deepa.

But after facing betrayal once, Deepa finds herself caught in a painful dilemma. Can she bring herself to trust someone again?

But this dilemma isn’t exclusive to Deepa; it’s a feeling many women have experienced at some point in time. How do you rebuild trust after being betrayed once? How do you stop viewing every man through a lens of doubt, while still hoping that maybe, just maybe, someone could be different?

When One Woman’s Story Becomes a Collective Emotion

This is also the core of their promotional campaign, “Trust Kare Kya?”. A thought-provoking question that gave women a voice to their internal battle, many women face when it comes to trusting again after betrayal. The question carries the weight of countless stories which were shared from a space of vulnerability and lived experience.

The campaign wrote its success story when people shared their experiences around broken trust and relationships. Social media soon filled with reactions, arguments and deeply personal stories, turning the conversation into a powerful reflection of emotions many have silently carried.

Reacting to the show’s trailer, some people argued that Deepa should give Kartik a second chance and allow herself to experience love again. Others resonated deeply with her hesitation, calling her reluctance to trust someone else completely justified after betrayal. And many just praised the show for bringing a story so relatable and close to their heart that it feels like they are finally being heard.

What makes the “Trust Kare Kya” campaign resonate even more is the timing. Conversations around emotional safety, trust and self-preservation are becoming louder yet rarely addressed with sensitivity in mainstream storytelling. By focusing on a woman’s hesitation instead of questioning it, the story gently shifts the way society usually expects women to simply “move on” or “adjust”. It understands that taking a step back isn’t a weakness; sometimes being careful is just a way of protecting yourself and honouring what you’ve been through.

At its core, Shehzadi Hai Tu Dil Ki reminds viewers that healing doesn’t follow a timeline. Choosing to pause, question, and protect your heart isn’t weakness; it’s self-respect. And sometimes, that choice itself is the bravest step forward.
