New Delhi, Indian women cricketer Gauhar Sultana has retired from all formats of cricket. Announcing his retirement on social media platform Instagram, Sultana said, “It has been a matter of pride for me to represent India. Every wicket, every dive on the field, every meeting with teammates has contributed to making me the level of cricketer and human being I am.”


He has played 50 ODI and 37 International T20 matches for India. He took a total of 66 wickets in ODI cricket at an average of 19.39. Sultana, who debuted in 2008, last played for India in April 2014. After 10 years, she returned to the top level of cricket through the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in 2024 and also played in the 2025 edition. This is the third best bowling average by any Indian bowler who has taken 50 wickets in this format.


Sultana played a total of two ODI World Cups in 2009 and 2013, in which she took 12 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 30.58. He also played a total of three T20 World Cups between 2009 and 2014, taking seven wickets with an economy of 5.81.


Despite Atala being away from high-level cricket for a long time, she was signed by UP Warriors (UPW) ahead of the 2014 WPL season. He bowled a total of five overs in two matches that season but did not get a single wicket. In the next season, he played two matches for UPW but bowled only one over. 37 year old Sultana is also a level 2 coach of BCCI.
