Flying as an adult is typically a rather cramped affair, unless you're fortunate enough to be seated in first class, enjoying gourmet meals and wine throughout your journey. However, most travellers aren't in such a privileged position and are far more likely to find themselves squeezed into the middle seat, hoping their neighbours might be generous enough to share the armrests.
One woman highlighted that, whenever young children travel with family members, they're essentially "in first class", suggesting they don't realise "how good they've got it". TikToker @elkekahler filmed herself looking astonished on the flight, before panning the camera to reveal young children stretched out across seats, using luggage as makeshift pillows to maximise their comfort. They were tucked under blankets and sound asleep - a stark contrast to the typical adult experience, where catching some sleep at altitude proves notoriously difficult.
She turned the camera back to herself, appearing both horrified and envious that the youngsters were able to lie flat and slumber peacefully. She amusingly set the video to Fergie's song 'Glamorous', which features the lyrics "we're flying first class, up in the sky, poppin' champagne, livin' my life in the fast lane".
It's fair to say these children were absolutely living their best lives, able to sleep comfortably and arrive in an entirely new country without any hassle whatsoever. One commenter humorously requested a "tutorial" on how to replicate the feat, but warned that an adult trying the same might end up with their feet dangling off the seat and constantly being bumped by the trolley service.
"They're gonna hate it when they get older and have to sit on aeroplanes normally," one woman observed. "I'm 19 and still do this," another woman confessed, claiming she was "short enough" to pull it off.
But can you imagine attempting it only to discover you're too tall? The embarrassment would be palpable.
"My mum prepared the same for my sister and me when I was younger. I can confirm that it's the comfiest ever," a TikTok user bragged.
A flight attendant chimed in: "I used to operate this type of aircraft for Emirates, and we would always have to tell them not to do this because of safety."
Referring to the blankets, she added: "There is a high risk that you're not allowed to bring these onto the plane." While it appears as though a similar setup could be achieved using a suitcase and a pillow, it's unclear exactly how they managed it.
