Ahmedabad: In the year 2024, the State Cyber ​​Crime Cell of Gujarat Police has recovered more than Rs 108 crore from innocent citizens by defrauding cyber criminals. Apart from this, Rs 285.12 crore has been frozen in one year and action is being taken to recover it. State Police Chief Vikas Sahayata has appealed to the citizens to immediately contact the helpline number 1930, since the number of complaints received during the golden hours of cyber fraud (within 5 hours of the fraud occurring) has the highest rate of money freeze and recovery rate.

The rapid action taken by the State Cyber ​​Crime Cell under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and under the guidance of Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi and State Police Chief Vikas Sahay, the recovery of the fraud money and the quick freezing of the fraud amount transferred to the bank account has been commendable. As a result, Gujarat Police has got good success in getting back the money lost in fraud to the citizens who have become victims of online fraud.

A total of 1.31 lakh complaints to cyber crimes have been received in the state from January 1, 2024 to December 15, 2024. Among them, Rs 108.08 crore has been recovered and returned to the citizens who were victims of cyber fraud, while the process of returning other amounts is underway.

State Cyber ​​Crime Cell’s SP Dharmendra Sharma said that the State Cyber ​​Crime Cell had launched a special campaign for 10 days from December 3 to 13, 2024, with the aim of getting the applicants their money back through Lok Adalat. In this campaign, a total of 40,905 applications from across the state were submitted to the Opinion Lok Adalat. There will be a court order soon, which means that more Rs 75 crore lost in cyber fraud will be returned to the citizens. Recently, Gujarat Police was honored with an award by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah for its best performance in Cyber ​​Helpline 1930.
