New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has introduced a swivel seat option for the Wagon R to make it easier for senior citizens and people with limited mobility to get in and out of the car. It is a factory-approved modification which helps to improve daily life needs rather than add comfort or style features. It provides a simple mobility solution without relying on aftermarket changes, making it a sensible option for families with specific access needs.

The swivel seat is offered as a company-approved accessory on selected Wagon R variants. It is limited to the front passenger seat and is not offered for the rear seats, while Cabin space and boot capacity remain unchanged. Installation is done only at authorised Maruti Suzuki dealerships to maintain safety standards and warranty coverage. It is available at more than 200 arena dealerships in 11 cities.

The swivel seat is fitted on the front passenger side. When the door is opened, the seat rotates outward instead of staying fixed in the usual position. This allows the passenger to sit down or stand up while facing outside the car, which reduces strain on the knees, back, and hips. Once the passenger is seated, the seat turns back to its normal forward-facing position and locks firmly before the car can be driven.

The brand has made an electric mechanism for seat rotation uses and is operated using a dedicated control switch. However, it works only when the car is parked and the door is open. Built-in safety systems prevent the car from moving unless the seat is fully rotated back and locked in place. The modification does not change the Wagon R’s basic structure or interfere with its safety systems.
