The ultimate getaway is a paradise islandwhere pints are a mere £2.20. The perfect antidote to Britain's winter blues has been unveiled and it's a heavenly island hailed as 'the Caribbeanwithout the jetlag' where you can enjoy a pint for a mere £2.20.
An index that ranks the top winter sun destinations based on factors such as temperature, sunshine hours, cost of a pint and meal for two, time difference, and rainfall, has crowned Sal, Cape Verde's most tourist-friendly island, as the ultimate winter getaway. Despite being a six-hour flight away, this Atlantic paradise boasts white sandy beaches, subtropical temperatures, and only a one-hour time difference with the UK.
Winter temperatures on the island hover between 24°C and 25°C from January to March, and holidaymakers can bask in approximately 10 hours of sunshine each day, according to easyJet's Winter Sun Index.
Sal also offers a culinary delight with dishes influenced by Portuguese, African and Brazilian cuisines, with a meal for two costing around £30.
Hot on its heels is Egypt's Red Sea jewel, Hurghada, where winter temperatures range between 21°C and 25°C and pints are less than £2. This resort town promises almost perpetual sunshine, crystal-clear waters, and desert landscapes ripe for activities like quad biking or Jeep safaris.
The Canary Islands continue to be popular choices, with Gran Canaria and Lanzarote clinching third and fourth places respectively; Gran Canaria is famed for its golden beaches, while Lanzarote captivates with its unique black sands and volcanic landscapes.
Kevin Doyle, UK country manager for the airline, said: "As temperatures at home begin to drop and the days get darker, now is the perfect time to book an escape to warmer climes.
"Our network and package holidays offer a broad range of winter sun destinations across Europe and beyond – from Sub-Saharan islands to Spanish peninsula cities."
The index also features standout destinations including Agadir in Morocco, Tunisia's Djerba island, and the Spanish city of Seville.
Agadir boasts winter temperatures reaching 23°C, almost nine hours of daily sunshine and minimal rainfall, whilst meals for two typically cost around £26 and a pint comes in at a mere £1.75.
Djerba earned its place on the list thanks to its appealing blend of culture and leisure, with winter temperatures hovering between 16°C and 18°C alongside up to eight hours of sunshine each day.
The island combines Mediterranean shores with Saharan character, featuring traditional market streets, palm-lined avenues and golden beaches, where dining for two runs to approximately £26 and a pint costs just £1.30.
Seville, which holds the title of Europe's mildest city during winter, ranks highly for its stunning Moorish buildings and lively urban atmosphere.
Visitors can anticipate temperatures ranging from 16°C to 22°C, roughly eight hours of sunshine daily, and pints priced at only £2.20.
The city's historic squares, flamenco performances and sun-drenched streets make it an excellent choice for those preferring urban warmth over coastal escapes.
