Flash floods have swamped Dubai, leaving the streets waterlogged with residents wading through the water-filled roads and traffic grinding to a halt. The UAE is facing its heaviest rainfall since records began 76 years ago, with police forces working round the clock.


Dubai police teams have urged locals to stay indoors. In a statement, the police said: "For your safety, please remain cautious as unstable weather conditions are expected in the coming hours, and avoid going out unless it is absolutely necessary until midday on Friday.

Locals have been spotted wading through knee-deep water, using their arms for balance.

Authorities have urged residents to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow official instructions.



The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has suspended intercity bus services between Dubai, Ajman, and Sharjah until further notice.


Locals are being urged to keep a close eye on official updates before travelling.



Yesterday (December 18), Dubai police teams urged locals to stay indoors.

Heavy rain has flooded major roads in Sharjah, including Al Khan Bridge and Al Wahda Street, disrupting traffic and slowing movement.



Dubai Municipality has stressed its ongoing flood relief efforts.


Posting to X, it said in English: "Everywhere across the emirate, #DubaiMunicipality teams remain on full standby, carrying out continuous field efforts to respond swiftly and efficiently to changing weather conditions.


"From clearing water accumulations to addressing reports in real time, teams work tirelessly to ensure public safety and maintain smooth traffic flow."



The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has announced that, due to the extreme weather conditions, all parks and beaches under its management will remain temporarily closed to ensure public safety.


Residents and visitors are advised to avoid these areas until conditions improve and to follow official updates for further information.



The National Centre of Meteorology in the United Arab Emirates has issued a heavy rainfall warning.
