Indian cricket team’s star batsman Tilak Verma has been appointed as the captain of South Zone in the upcoming Duleep Trophy. Tilak has played four ODIs and 20 T20 International matches for India. He is in excellent form and has recently scored 100, 56, 47 and 112 runs in four innings for England’s county team Hampshire. Four Kerala players, who performed well till the Ranji Trophy final, have got a place in the 16-member team. In this, Mohammad Azharuddin will be the vice-captain of the team while MD Nidhish, Basil NP and Salman Nisar also managed to get a place in the team.


Tamil Nadu’s wicketkeeper batsman Narayana Jagadeesan, experienced lefty spinner R. Sai Kishore and middle order batsman Devdutt Padikal are also in the team. Jagdish has also been included in Team India’s squad for the England tour in place of injured Rishabh Pant. India A and Karnataka fast bowler Vaishakh Vijayakumar will lead the South Zone bowling attack. R, who scored the highest 516 runs for Karnataka in the last Ranji season. Memory has been included as standby.
