Tata Motors: Over 2.5 lakh TATA.ev vehicles are now on Indian roads, marking a significant milestone in the country’s electric vehicle journey, according to a Tuesday announcement from Tata Motors.

The accomplishment demonstrates the company’s solid leadership in the rapidly expanding electric passenger car sector in the nation.

The milestone occurs at a time when Indian customers are starting to choose electric cars more often, going from early adopters to mainstream purchasers.

A major contributor to this change has been Tata Motors. The firm has gradually increased its footprint with the release of the Nexon.ev, its first mass-market electric vehicle, in 2020.

Additionally, the Nexon.ev made history by becoming the first electric vehicle in India to sell more than one lakh units overall.

Approximately two out of every three EVs on the road are produced by Tata Motors, which now sells about 66% of all electric passenger cars in India.

The Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev, and Harrier.ev are among its EV models, which span a range of pricing ranges and body designs.

Additionally, the business provides fleet operators with the XPRES-T EV, opening up electric mobility to a diverse clientele.

The surpassing of 2.5 lakh EV sales, according to Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, demonstrates how electric mobility is integrating into Indian daily life.

He said that consumers are becoming more comfortable and trusting of EVs as their main mode of transportation.

“With support from government policies, suppliers, charging partners, and customers, Tata’s EV journey was not just about selling cars, but about building a complete ecosystem to support India’s transition to clean mobility,” Chandra said.

Infrastructure for charging EVs has been a key component of Tata Motors’ EV campaign. Through home, communal, and public charging choices, TATA.ev now offers access to over two lakh charging stations nationwide.

More than 20,000 public charging stations are covered by its charging aggregator, and 100 MegaCharging Hubs with fast-charging capabilities are currently in place along major thoroughfares and urban thoroughfares.
